What is reflexology?

Reflexology is a gentle, natural, harmless, drug-free, holistic and complementary treatment.
It works alongside conventional medicine.
It approaches the person as an indivisible whole.
How it is applied:
Finger pressure is used mainly on the soles of the feet, but also on the hands, face and ears.
It stimulates reflex points on the feet that correspond to other parts of the body,
encouraging the body towards self-healing and achieving balance, harmony and the normal functioning of all its parts.
Reflexology is based on the theory of energy flowing through zones of the body.
If our energy is blocked or disrupted by stress, illness or injury,
the body becomes unbalanced and unable to heal itself, allowing pain and illness to develop.
It therefore aims to remove energy blockages and bring the body back into balance,
restoring the body’s natural healing process.
Reflexology dates back to ancient China, India, Egypt and elsewhere, where working on the feet was used to promote health.
In 1913, Dr William Fitzgerald introduced it to the Western world as “Zone Therapy”.
In the 1930s, Eunice Ingham developed the theory further, and it subsequently became known as Reflexology.
Our busy lives, poor diet and sedentary lifestyles can often mean that we are not in an ideal state of balance.
Reflexology sessions are a wonderfully enjoyable way to help you return to it.
They offer deep relaxation for the whole body, calming the nervous system, helping to remove toxins and improving blood circulation to promote good physical, emotional and mental health.
You do not need to have a problem or difficulty to benefit — you may simply want an opportunity to relax, relieve stress and take time for yourself.
Reflexology can help with specific symptoms, and regular treatments can help your body maintain optimal health and can also be ideal as a preventative measure.
